The Theme of International Literacy Day 2014 was ‘Literacy and Sustainable Development’. Keeping this theme in mind the students of Dr Pillai Global Academy celebrated a week long ‘The North Creek Literary Fest – Bookaru’ beginning from 9th September onwards. This celebration involved children from Early years to A levels and IB. The children were thrilled to participate in various activities such as creative writing, poetry recitation and dramatisation. They also displayed their creative skills while making book marks, puppets, files, folders, pencil holders, paper weights, story books and pencil caps etc. These items were put on sale the proceeds of which would then go for charity. The week long programme ended on Saturday, 13th September 2014 with great gusto using an assortment of games.
The stalls of various products made by the students were also set up in the premises. The parents attended this event in large numbers and patrionised the stalls. Apart from that, there was also a reading area where the parents read different books with their children. There was a story telling and handwriting activity for the children too, wherein both the parents and the students enthusiastically participated. ‘The North Creek Literary Fest – Bookaru 2014’ then ended with fond memories which the children, parents as well as the teachers took back home.
