Are you at risk? “Eat healthy and exercise daily”
World Diabetes Day was observed on 14th November, 2014 at the DPGA Gorai premises by the IB CAS students to spread awareness and complications about the alarming rise of diabetes around the world.
A free health check up campaign for blood sugar and blood pressure was organised for teachers and subordinate staff by the IB students.
The students were educated and supervised under the guidance of Dr. Harry and the Science Teachers. The IB students took blood samples and blood pressure of teachers and subordinate staff. They informed those with high BP to take care and go frequently for checkups. They also stressed on eating healthy and exercising daily. A large number of Teachers and subordinate staff understood the importance and came forward to check their blood sugar and blood pressure.
This CAS experience would help to build the self-esteem, self-confidence and self-reliance of the students.
The CAS learning outcomes achieved from this experience were:
- Planned and initiated activity
- Worked collaboratively with others
- Shown perseverance and commitment
- Engaged with issues of global importance
- Developed new skills
This experience of Service helped to develop the caring, communicating and reflecting attributes from the IB learner Profile. The Students plan to organise free camps and spread awareness of Diabetes to people in the locality.
